The Genesis Smartwatch?

Hey y’all. I just wanted to put this out there. Who would love to see full Android smartwatch companies mix these newer technologies that are coming out? I am proposing this idea because I want to see this come into fruition and I don’t have the means to do so. I call it the Genesis. It was originally a Wear design, but could easily be adapted to full Android as well. By that, I mean that I originally conceived it for Wear before I came to this community, however it incoporates ideas that I have come across since then. It uses the new glass batteries for larger battery capacity in a smaller size as well as significantly more charging cycles due to the reduction of insulator breakdown. It would incorporate the new snapdragon processor designed specifically for smart watches, UL built into the kernel for more watchface compatibility and functionality. It would also have an IR blaster, instead of a camera. With all the new smart TVs, having that option would be awesome. Also, who realistically uses watch cameras? It would have support for BT 4.2LE. A version of the secondary Essentials mode LCD screen would also be nice. Who would be interested in seeing the Genesis come to life? What features would you add or get rid of? Feel free to discuss. I am only the Muse, but I think this would make an awesome watch. Maybe the Kospet Genesis, Zeblaze Genesis or KW Genesis?

I like the idea. Personally I would prefer a camera to an IR blaster(I need camera for snapchat, Instagram and so on, and for the controlling of tv’s, I’m not sure, but I believe we are moving towards controlling tv’s through bluetooth). I agree that it should use a new battery technology though I’m not sure which, if any, of them will get into production. Having the Universal Launcher as the stock launcher is a good idea, but it wouldn’t make sense to include it in the kernel. It should also use TouchOne as the standard keyboard. As for bluetooth it would like it to have bluetooth 5. I haven’t heard of the screen you are talking about, but if it newer and better for use in smartwatches it sounds good. Last thing I will say is that it should have NFC(I’m really longing for the ability to pay with my watch) and that it should use esim instead of a physical nano sim.

New ideas welcome, but I don’t think that those Chinese OEM will would do it, I doubt it, lest get real, it will be nice a crowd funding and combinations with Open Watch project, you got it see the video of the Spanish guy with the LG Urbane Smartwatch doing things like open and closing the garage doors and turning the light off and on, pretty nice I think he is using a custom Wear OS but the first version and I believe can be this incorporated to the regular Android OS , just is needed Bluetooth and WiFi connection with some IOT hardware. I do still believe in those full Android Smartwatch but not in the Chinese direction, like I think we aren’t going to see the Bluetooth calling feature in A7, to bad, hopefully in custom rom like the Open Watch project. Yeah the front camera is needed, it would be great like a pop up camera and from the IR great idea I believe it doesn’t need to much space, but to me I want a full rugged bigger screen Smartwatch, with: pop ups front camera, Bluetooth 5.0, Ipx waterproof, LTE capabilities, big battery,NFC,wireless charging and dedicated hardware for voice assistance.

The only reason I am against a camera on a smartwatch is that phone cameras are so much more advanced. Some phone cameras are hitting 20-24MP mechanically and upwards of 40MP with digital upscaling and multiple lenses for various effects and low light situations. The best I've seen on a smartwatch is 5MP with digital upscaling to 8MP. There are dedicated "spy" watches with better quality, but they are often mechanical watches with analog film or it is a dedicated digital camera that just looks like a watch, but is non-functional as a watch. To take a decent picture, you need more space and angles than, I believe, a watch can afford. The best would be a DSLR camera. Flagship phone cameras are getting a lot better, and almost DSLR quality, but not there yet. I just don't believe that smartwatch cameras have the space to come anywhere close. Plus, newer smartphones have better access to image software to clean up and manipulate your images and the visual space to do so. I forgot about BT 5.0, but I stress the Low Energy variant for power saving. Lastly, I do believe that NFC support is in some watches, but most are Wear OS and Tizen. It would be nice to see it as a standard, regardless of OS.

I agree about the camera. Smart phones have so much better resolution, some watch cams are practically useless.

We will be supporting this model.
I’ll be opening the official post soon :+1:
